Forest School
Forest School is a unique educational experience and process that offers children the opportunity to succeed and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland environment
During Forest School children may build a shelter, light small fire or use green woodworking skills to create and build objects from the woodland around them. Through this they will develop and learn the boundaries of behaviour, both physical and social, establish and grow in confidence, self-esteem and motivation.
At Fishbourne, our children in Key Stage 1 take part in regular Forest School sessions run by volunteers in our very own, special Forest School area that has been developed on our school site. The children enjoy at least six sessions across both spring and summer terms. Our children in Key Stage 2 have several sessions across the spring and summer terms which are led by Chichester Forest School at their site in the village.
In addition, we have a whole school forest school day on the school site in the autumn and the summer terms when the children come together in their house teams to enjoy a whole day of learning outside of the classroom. These wonderful days are generously funded by Gareth's Legacy which you can read more about on our school website.
