'We Cannot Walk Alone'
This week it is Refugee Week. Refugee Week is a UK-wide festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary.
Founded in 1998 and held every year around World Refugee Day on the 20 June, Refugee Week is also a growing global movement.
The theme of Refugee Week 2021, ‘We Cannot Walk Alone’, is an invitation to extend your hand to someone new. Someone who is outside your current circle, has had an experience you haven’t, or is fighting for a cause you aren’t yet involved in. This theme fits perfectly with our current assembly focus of collaborating to make the world a better place to be. We will be marking the week by sharing ‘Wisp- A Story of Hope’ by Zana Fraillon with the children as part of our assembly theme.
Our wonderful Book Champion, Mrs Whitaker, has put together a collection of books that have themes of refugees within them for the children to use to explore during their time in the library.
