Year 5 Residential
What an amazing few days the Hippos had on their first residential at CYE. Everyone showed great determination and embraced all of our learning behaviours whilst taking part in lots of fun activities.
Over the two days, the Hippos developed their team-building skills and supported each other to try new skills in sailing and kayaking. It was amazing to see them tackle each new challenge at CYE, especially the tunnelling. We were so proud to see everyone overcome their fear of darkness. It was wonderful to hear their screams of dread turn to laughter as we watched in amazement as they charged around the tunnels encouraging each other all the way. The Hippos collaborated to find out different routes and take on each challenge the leaders set them.
All the Hippos were super brave at staying over at CYE as a whole class. Each child helped one other with getting ready for bed, listening to stories from Mrs Harris in the snug before settling down for the night. One of my favourite memories was when everyone came for a duvet snuggle in the morning before another busy day.
As a team, we were so proud of how respectful the Hippos were in listening to the instructors to help us stay safe and enjoy our stay at CYE. Finally, I would like to thank our incredible team of Mrs Harris, Mrs Gregory and Mrs Hack for supporting each Hippo to shine.
