World Down Syndrome Day
On Wednesday we marked World Down Syndrome Day at school by wearing odd socks to school. Odd socks were chosen as a symbol for WDSD because chromosomes are shaped like socks, and those with Down Syndrome have an extra one.
Our school motto is 'only one you' and we believe that each of us have a responsibility to make the world a better place to be. The story book, Only One You, finishes with the words- 'There is only one you in this great big world; make it a better place to be.'
We are privileged to have two children in our learning community who have Down Syndrome; there's no doubt that they both make our learning community a better place to be!
Do have a look at this wonderful piece of film put together by Chichester Down Syndrome Support. You may spot one or two faces you recognise!
